چکیده

Abstract Few wells targeting high temperature, pressure intervals in most tertiary sedimentary basins have achieved their objective terms of technicalities and cost. Since shallow targets been drilled, exploration focus is drifting into deeper plays both onshore deep offshore areas. To ensure safe economic drilling campaigns, pore prediction methodologies used the region needs to be improved. The research aims at generating testing a modification Eaton’s equation fit for on field. evolution field was established from offset well data by making several crossplots, fracture gradient computed using Mathew Kelly’s equation. parameters were then calibrated until desired scale result when compared with information already drilled i.e., kicks RFT data. Seismic velocity resulting density, resolution analysis done target overpressured predict 1D models six selected prospect locations. Analyses reveal depths shallower than 3800 m TVD/MSL geothermal 3.0 °C/100 less 1.50sg EMW are affected mainly undercompaction; greater 4.1 °C/10 gradients reaching 1.82–2.12sg unloading narrow margin highly pressured intervals. n-exponent modified 6, it proved accurate predicting overpressure first drilled.

An Integrated Geophysical Approach for Porosity and Facies Determination: A Case Study of Tamag Field of Niger Delta Hydrocarbon Province

Petro physics, rock physics and multi-attribute analysis have been employed in an integrated approach to delineate porosity variation across Tamag Field of Niger Delta Basin. Gamma and resistivity logs were employed to identify sand bodies and correlated across the field. Petro physical analysis was undertaken. Rock physics modelling and multi-attribute analysis were carried out. Two hydrocarbo...

Evaluation of Geopressure Regime in an Onshore Niger Delta Field of Nigeria

Geopressure evaluation or prediction is an important exercise that must be carefully estimated when planning a drilling campaign. Formations of high pressure regime can be experienced in several areas within the bore hole depths. Being unaware of these areas that experience high pressure regime can create many uncontrolled events such as blow outs that may lead to human and material loss within...

Integration of Seismic and Petrophysics to Characterize Reservoirs in “ALA” Oil Field, Niger Delta

In the exploration and production business, by far the largest component of geophysical spending is driven by the need to characterize (potential) reservoirs. The simple reason is that better reservoir characterization means higher success rates and fewer wells for reservoir exploitation. In this research work, seismic and well log data were integrated in characterizing the reservoirs on "ALA" ...

Considerations of Well Cementing Materials in High-Pressure, High-Temperature Conditions (RESEARCH NOTE)

As worldwide demand of hydrocarbon is growing fast, the oil and gas companies have been forced to explore reservoirs with more hostile conditions, such as high-pressure, high-temperature conditions. Improved technology, material selection and testing procedures are required to overcome the common problems in these conditions. One of the main phases of well construction is cementing job. Appropr...

Land and Poverty: Some Empirical Findings Using Cross Sectional Data from Niger Delta Region, Nigeria

Poverty is the most serious threat to natural resources and the environment and most of the poor are rural-based who engage in various agricultural activities. Land is a critical asset for the rural poor and lacking means to appropriately intensify agriculture which compels the poor to either overuse or misuse this natural resource base to meet basic needs. This study presents empirical relatio...
